I'm from Venezuela, and i'm a straight 18-years-old girl that is addicted to SoN! X) I started watching it on Mtvla, but since i realized in Usa its far ahead, i tried to watch it on The-Click, but obvioulsy i couldnt cuz i'm not North-american.. Sucky, i know!! So my alternative was youtube... I have to say that here where i live, the homophobic level is high!! But SoN has helped me to know that we are teached to be afraid of something or someone different, but it doesn't have to be that way.. I constantly keep reminding myself what Ash said: "whatever people consider to be normal, it never is" Cuz is just soo true... The first eppy i watched was Put out or Get out, and when i saw this Amazing relationship, i just HAD to tuned in nex week XD... And very quickly i got addicted! I mean, i started seeing SoN in Dec '07.And now i'm here, trying to Save it along w/ u!! I know that i'm helping as much as i can, and even though we dont Save Spashley, i know we did everything we could. Andre

I think that maybe the-n is pushing the air date back is because they want to see how much more of a reaction they can get out of south of nowhere. and maybe if the reaction meets their expectations... they will have a season 4.

ok so south has been apart of my life 4 2 n a half years. i myself am a lesbian. i've known that for years but only really accepted it about 2 years ago when i was 14. watching south of nowhere and the things it portrayed made me think about how much it reminded me of my own life. i was then able to accept my sexuality. south has helped so many people like myself be true to themselves. south of nowhere is an inspirational show that needs to be on air to show the trials that real teens go through everyday when they decide to come out to their family and friends. i love how the show shows the good and bad side of gay and straigt relationships. south of nowhere really needs to stay on ait to continue to show what we as teens go through, because it's real. we really are hated for who we love and the world needs to see that its real. lesbian and gay love is real its not some sick twisted thing. we are people too and the show helps us feel ok even if just for a little while. thanks.

hey guys- i just want to say that i think that it is really braindead of the N to cancel this show. I agree with all of you, that we need to keep this show on the air! So what if it is controversial? It is more than that, it helps people, it touches subjects that most tv networks and shows shy away from. Dont tell me that the N is gonna do that 2!! honestly, i think taht if not on this network than another one, but it needs to continue to air! It is the best show i have ever watched! my sister got me hooked on it- and now i am dying to see what else happens! Spencer and Ashley are just soo cute together and so right for each other that I would hate to meet the people who think they're not- who think that just because they're gay- its not right. Becuase i just dont believe thats true. and I think that ppl who hate on love just piss me off :D:D sry for ranting soo long :D bye-bye

Ok, I can't say that SoN changed my life because I was lucky enough to have myself figured out (for the most part) before I ever saw it. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a really great show that seems to have been shoved to the wayside for no good reason. At least no reason I can get on board with. And speaking as a fan from the UK, I can say with confidence that this show has gone a long way, touched alot of hearts and doesn't deserve to just die out like this. There's so much more to be said and done. I just hope the people who make these 'clever' descisions realise that in time to make a difference.

My name is Agustin and I'm from Argentina. I'm 22 and i'm a man. Since I was 17 i knew i was gay. But i never told anyone. I was so scared about my parents reaction. I was so afraid that i didn't do anything. I sufferd a lot. But last year i saw in mtv a show called South Of Nowhere. The show teached me a lot of thing. It helped me to come out. After I watched the last episode of the third season i was ready to tell everyone who i am. I accepted my self from who i am. My father didn't accept me. My mather helped me a lot. She was the only person who cared about me. Thanks to SoN i am a better person and i love my life. My life changed a lot. And i know that i'm not the only one in the same condition. When I heard about the cancellation i felt my life was over. SoN means a lot to me. Thanks to SoN i didn't kill my self. It was the light at the end of the tunnel. Please don't finish the show that changed the life of a lot of people who need it to have a better life.

The-n is KILLING ME!! i was preparing myself to watch the final episodes in april and now i have to wait until fall? me and my friends had this HUGE party planned for the start of 3b. Now i'm gonna be alone watching it my senior year while all my friends are at college. this blows! since they decided to move the date back they should give us waaaay more episodes since they have extra time on their hands. this pisses me off. everyone put in a huge effort to save the show and the-n pulls this. well we just need to come at them even stronger soo they can see how much this show means to everyone. they dont understand their ratings will go down as soon as S.O.N isnt on anymore.. sooo yeah keep up the work and have faith. we can change this

Posted:  2008-03-22 11:47:44 Rating

hey, i'm shery from mexico. i can't believe the network is thinking about cancelling the show..!! i've watched it from the very beginning and i think it has a great message. i'm not gay but i'm in love with another girl. The show helped me realize that there's nothing wrong with being different and different does not mean wrong. It helped me realize that i shouldn't hide my feelings for her. Love is love no matter how. It helps millions of girls to come out and to feel a little less akward about who they are. Besides this it has a great message about tolerance not only to gay people but to people from a different color or culture. I think the network should not cancel south of nowhere because it has really good content. i'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks this.

This show has helped many people and it would be a mistake to cancel it.My question is: Why they do it? I'm a girl lesbian

This show is absolutely amazing. Im a 17 female who fell in love with this show from the beginning. I have introduced all my friends to it and they love it. This show has helped me deal a lot with things that have gone on in the last two years of my life. I never knew how different people treat you if your gay until i saw this show. It also showed me people accept you for who your are no matter who you are in love with. So PLEASE don't cancel South of Nowhere.

Pushing back the 3B episodes is just way overboard. I don't really see why The N would refuse to let go of a show that they have already canceled. The management's acting like a bunch of kids in pre-school, they wanna keep the candies all to themselves. I honestly can't do a thing about ratings. I live in Asia, but I do love SoN. I can't count how many times I've said to myself, "Man, I wish my high school was like this" or "God, I wish I had a Spencer back then." I see myself in Ashley, though the path we've taken to mature are a lot different. Arthur also reminds me of my dead father, everytime he has a scene with Spencer, I try hard to fight back tears. The same as with Paula and Glen, I have family members who are homophobics. What they're doing to SoN is highly annoying, it's really irritating. I wonder if The N executives know what it feels like to have something you love be taken away.

I don't feel the need to tell my story about why South has helped. Overall it's just good viewing. GREAT viewing. I know it has helped a lot of people with many issues not just that of coming out. It's a real shame. The-N are rather silly if you ask me!

My name is Samantha, I'm 23/f from Florida I'm 'not into labels' haha - but I've had a gf for over 3 years. I've watched South of Nowhere since episode one first aired. What's sad for me is that I always appreciated The N for daring to show it - and even for showing episodes of Degrassi with gay storylines. Now it seems they are shying away from showing real life important things in favor of fantastical kiddie sitcoms. South of Nowhere is well written, well acted, and most importantly well intentioned. I think the real reason The N wants to get rid of South is because nothing else they show even compares - it's like the one clean spot in the middle of the kitchen floor. It just emphasizes how dirty the rest of it is. South deserves to be treated better, and it deserves to be surrounded by better programming. If The N isn't up for that, maybe another network is. SoN is a gem and I truly hope we can see it shine beyond 8 more episodes.

South of Nowhere is an important show to me because I feel it promotes understanding. One of the only ways you can understand somebody is to try to see things from their point of view, see through their eyes. It’s hard to do that because humans are often blind sighted by their own problems. However TV shows like South can help. Through seeing through these characters eyes a viewer can come to understand many issues that they may have previously been judgemental of - which comes from a lack of understanding, from ignorance. So please...don't cancel a TV show that not only has reached out to and supported a massive group of people worldwide...but has also removed the ignorance of those who had never looked through these eyes before. This world needs understanding. Run your fingers through my soul. For once, just once, feel exactly what I feel, believe what I believe, perceive as I perceive, look, experience, examine, and for once; just once, understand.” -Unknown (F/ 21 - UK)

IDEA -- okay guys, i had this idea and thought I would share it with all of you. If we do it correctly, it could be pretty cool. As some of you may know, The L Word is entering its final season, and the producer, Ilene Chaiken is taking any ideas/storylines the fans may want to see and trying to make it happen. I think we should go to ourchart.com and say that we want to see Mandy and Gabby in an episode. Even if its just for a moment, it would be a nice little shout out to the 'other' lesbian show that is ending this year. I think it's worth the effort to at least put it out there, and how amazing would it be if it actually happened?!

I admit, I've been holding off on writing one of these, simply because I'm lazy, but The-N's latest demonstration of incompetence was just the kick in the ass I needed. Being an Australian, the first place I heard of SON was on the internet. I got curious, looked up the show on YouTube and from the first video I watched, I was hooked. I fell in love with the show, more to the point, I fell in love with Spashley. And since then, I have gone to ridiculous lengths to legally download the show from I-tunes. Because, as easy as it would be to download it illegally, this is a show I want to support, this is a show I would pay to watch. In fact, it's the only show I pay to watch. Since I became a fan, I've introduced the show to many others. My friends, my younger cousin, who used to think girls kissing girls was icky. South of Nowhere changed that. She's now a huge Spashley fan and is constantly pestering me for new episodes. Unfortunately, I can't give her what I haven't got.

Okay. I really don't know how else to say this. I am really disappointed in you, The-N. First you cancel the show. A show that has made a HUGE impact on me. It's so relatable. Then you move the premiere date to the fall.... After you moved it from February to April. I am really sad. South of Nowhere is a beautiful show, with talented actors that bring the characters to life. The show actually makes a difference in how people perceive the gay community. Please don't cancel it. Please don't move the date back. Please Save Spashley.

I thought it was bad enough the pushed the second half of the season back. Then they cancel it an now they push it back again! It seems like the time that passes the more the dhow gets shtted on. I think we should continue with the campaigns now more than ever. The crapy excuses aren't enough. ThenN needs a serious wake up call. The actors do such a great job with and to bad it was cut short. I think by the time they do air the final season we'll have already forgotten everything. I'm not giving uo the fight.

I think we've all been dupped. 'M' (lame) played us and The-N does not give a crap. I wish much success for the actors and some of the writers. Long live Spashley. Good thing there's always the first season. Rah rah whatever.

when i found out south of nowhere was geting cancelled i couldnt and wouldnt believe it. i mean the thought was ridiculous how could a show with such good actors with such good storylines and speaks so loud be cancelled? honestly this is the best tv show ive ever seen it helps so many people figure out who they are without it i think many people will simply stop believing that they will be unjudged answers to their questions. and maybe people will realize that its ok to be who you are. when i first saw the show i was so happy finally there was something good on that actully had depth. now the only emotion i have been feeling the last couple of weeks have been sadness and disbelief the n is making a big mistake this show is something to hold on to. please savespashley we wont sttle for a respectful send off just keep it around what have u got to loose?

Hi I'm Megan, I'm 16 and I'm from Northern Ireland. I'm hugely annoyed at South of Nowhere being cancelled because watching it really helped me through a lot of things. A year ago I went through the same thing that Spencer did with her mom and after watching how Spencer dealt with it, it helped me to do the same. I'm sure the show does the same for other teenagers all across the globe. There arent many 'gay' TV shows left out there, they all get cancelled. Some say its coincidence. I beg to differ. South of Nowhere became one of the only shows to stick to realistic storylines, one of the only ones that didnt spiral out of control. Now the only thing thats spiraled out of control is the minds of The N. Sort it out guys. SAVE SPASHLEY. SAVE SOUTH OF NOWHERE.

Melissa

When I first saw South of Nowhere, it was the second season premiere. I remember seeing Spencer and Ashley the morning after and thinking to myself, this seems so...right. I believe that that day marked the beginning of when i started to feel more comfortable with myself and who i am. I'm still not positive about my sexuality, but because of South of Nowhere, I know that whatever I am is okay. I don't know what my life would be like now without it.

South of Nowhere is something that has truly changed my life, as it has for so many others. Upon seeing it for the first time I was unsure of what to expect. But as the show progressed it helped me to find myself. The chemistry and friendship that is shown on the show is one that many people are familiar with in their own lives.South of Nowhere is the most realistic television program that has ever aired.Whether your gay, straight, bi or not into labels, you can find a way to relate to it.It shows how people can be judgmental and how people should be true to themselves rather than pretending to be something their not for fear of public opinion.Whether dealing with sexuality, discrimination, addiction or death amongst other things. SON has helped many along with myself to learn about life.It has shown us that your not alone in this world and the value of family and friends. Please reconsider the decision to cancel South of Nowhere, because we all still have so much more to learn.

Hi I'm Mariela and I'm from Caracas, Venezuela. I just wanted to say that I'm really really sad about SoN being cancelled. SoN is such a great show that educates the viewers all around the world and let us know that its OK be who we are... whatever that is straight, gay or bi....Please dont take that from us!!

Melissa

What South of Nowhere means to me is a commonground that youngsters, tweens, teens, young adults, and even those older adults have and come together and be comfortable with whatever they're going through. I've met people I would never had met if it weren't for this show. I've learned that life sucks and sometimes you just need somoene to listen. I remember an issue fans of this show tackled head on and it was amazing. One young girl in love with her friend, not sure what their feelings were, what they were doing, how she should act. The fans helped her through and continue to support her. I'm behind this show for those who need it, for those who will need it, for those who finally see something they can relate to; I'm fighting for people who don\'t know that a fight is in them. This show has done more than people want to admit. It's a shame we have to protest to get people to understand it all.

South of Nowhere is the only show I've ever watched that I can say honestly changed me. You all know what I'm talking about, whether you are a teenager like myself reading this post or some stuck-up, shy executive snooping inside the diaries of these boards. You've been changed sometime. Whether it was a book, a speech, a show, a movie; a person, even...You've been changed sometime. Well, guess what? I hadn't. Not until South came along. And trust me, this whole teen television thing? Not my thing. I'm 14 years old and I've planned on being a psychiatrist forever; always felt different from people although I tend to blend quite well with the more popular kids. I've never come across a show before that helped me discover who I was. Ever. It's always been entertainment until I saw South of Nowhere. Picture this. Pretty girl, knows what she wants out of life. Intelligent. Caring... Homophobic, extremely unhappy. You know why? She's gay. She just doesn't know it. That wasn't just me back then. It was a thousand of us. A million of us. And maybe we weren't all pretty or afraid of being gay completely or extremely unhappy before, but even the straight ones here have felt uncomfortable sometime...Have lost someone, metaphorically or literally, to drugs or other issues. We've all been through the things depicted in South of Nowhere, and I can't tell you how many teenage lesbian relationship stories I've heard - true life ones - that were parallel to Spashley. Spencer and Ashley are not just characters concocted by an old, money-grubbing man. They are us. We have all been a Spencer before - or known one - someone questioning their sexuality, scared and confused; angry and misunderstood...Sharing a secret from the world that starts off tiny; the glance you snuck at that girl's backside at the beach, the thoughts that crept into your head...But it gets so, so much bigger. Secret glances turn into mutual stares that family members notice. Thoughts turn into actions. Actions change who we are, and finally, we all have to fess up sometime...whether it means saying "I like girls" or "I like boys" or "I wasn't born the right gender" whatever it may be. We all have to let it out. Spencer showed us how. We've all worn our hearts on our sleeves and had them sold for half price. We've all cared about someone only for them to leave eventually...And we need to see someone like Spencer, who instead of crumbling down, got up on her own two feet and lived like the fallen angel she was. We'd all like to be angels, I think. But we've all been Ashleys as well, angry with ourselves and the world, building walls painted and tainted in beautiful graffiti - art, whatever - to entice others and pull them in only to be pushed out sometime. We've all felt like being Ashleys and some of us have turned into one. And it helps so much to see someone like me on that screen, accidentally hurting others, crying out for help...And finally breaking down. Finally letting someone in those walls for good. Spencer and Ashley are the meeting of those two sides. The accepting, caring side, with the rebellious, angry side. The strong and the weak. The forgiving and the grudge-holding. They are raw, and human, and they are us. And they are every relationship we've ever been in, in one way or another, especially our first loves. So don't you DARE take me away from me. South can't end after 3B because our lives don't end after 3B. And I know you could say that about any season that it would end, yes, but we would never be satisfied until we saw all 5 seasons Lynch said he had planned out, because we know that nothing else is the ending that everyone rooting for us originally intended. We're not going to be happy with anything but the truth, or anything but what we know was

OK, BUENO SOY DE MEXICO TENGO 21 Y SOUTH OF NOWHERE ME HA DADO LA OPORTUNIDAD DE A LA PAR DE SPENCER IR ACEPTANDOME COMO SOY Y A LA VEZ , ME DA MUCHISIMO ORGULLO EL QUE LA GENTE SE PUEDA DAR CUENTA POR MEDIO DEL SHOW DE LO QUE REALMENTE PASA CON NOSOTROS Y QUE NOS MUESTRE DE UNA MANERA TAN REAL Y SOBRE TODO HUMANA, Y ASI DEJE DE SATANISARSE. ASI QUE HE ENCONTRADO EN LA SERIE EL VALOR PARA SALIR ADELANTE Y DEFEBDER MI FELICIDAD ANTE TODO, PERO SE QUE LA SERIE PUEDE DAR MUCHISIMO MAS Y SE QUE JUNTO CON LA SERIE CADA CAPITULO ME VA AYUDANDO A MI TAMBIEN A IR CRECIENDO ; NO ES SOLO UN SHOW SI NO PARA MI ES UNA ESCUELA DE VIDA QUE ES LO MAS IMPORTANTE..

Im 16. Im from Argentina and I I just want to say that S.O.N change my life... SON is no other TV show that talks about adolescent issues, is the joint work of many individuals who created a life story...Therefore, I believe that to cancel it would be a grave mistake. Not by audiciencia (could not have it) or by the fans, but for every one of those stories in which SON is the story

Have you ever just had someone, something, or somewhere that just makes you feel something? Like, really feel something: sadness, happiness, tranquility, giddy, pained, optimistic, or any other emotion out there. Thing is, South makes me feel all those things. Anytime something makes you feel all that, in my opinion it can never be a bad thing. Its also something that shouldn’t go away before its time is over. I could go on for pages and tell you how much South has impacted my life. I’ll defer though to the hundreds of other testimonials on this site where others share similar stories to my own. What I really want to emphasis is one point. There’s a reason why South needs to stay on air. There’s a reason that we’re all here and joining efforts to get our message across. That reason is simple: It Matters. South of Nowhere really and truly matters. There are plenty of other shows out there that offer controversy, drama, entertainment, laughs, and reality. How many shows though can actually say that they matter? How many could look advertisers, cast, crew, and most importantly fans and say this show is truly making a difference? I know without a doubt South of Nowhere can say that. This show matters.

Im 17 and I truly can’t imagine who Id be without SoN. Before the show premiered, I had a friend come out. And I saw her family turn against her. And by us 2 watching this show she realized there was no reason for her to be ashamed of who she is and made her family see that love is just love and that she couldn’t choose who to love. South of Nowhere has helped so many people find themselves in this world, and has such success with other teen issues that I cant believe you are thinking about canceling it.

From the Middle of Nowhere in China, South of Nowhere changed my life. And Spencer Carlin, whose courage as a high school student to embrace herself despite all odds, became a hero of mine, and with her help I found myself. You see, South of Nowhere isn’t just a television show, it’s my story and it’s the story of so many others. It’s not a show about tolerance; it’s a show about acceptance. And when I look at the world we live in, filled with hatred fueled by religious differences, racial and ethic prejudice, and homophobia, I don’t think there’s a more important lesson we need today. Please keep South of Nowhere on the air.

im 14 and let me just say south of nowhere has taught me how to help my friends who go and have gone through the same things all the charaters on south of nowhere not just spencer and ashley and the cast has also shown me how real people can be in a world of hipocrites and censorship and the fact that they cancelled it not because of a decrese in views but to cater to a different audience says a lot about the people who are supposed to guide us we as a generation here nothing but put down after put down and we dont know how to deal or that anyone else goes through things that we cant talk to our parents about south taught me that labels dont define you, you do
