We're going to send mail to the-N every Friday for the next 7 weeks. Open up this article for detailed instructions and examples, so that we can be unified in our efforts. Please post a comment letting us know what you wrote to the-N.
We would like everyone to join us every Friday in sending out a themed letter or postcard (or multiple ones) to The-N headquarters. There’s a new theme for every week in order to keep things fun for us in writing/making all these letters/postcards and it is more likely to catch the attention of the faces at the-n than receiving the same letters week in and week out. Here you will find a list of the themes we’ve got planned so far and the dates the letters/postcards are set to go out. Don’t forget to include a clothing label with “Not into Labels” written on it with each piece of mail you send. You can make your own postcards by printing out computer generated images onto cardstock and making your own place for comments/stamp/address on the back. You can even forgo the computer all together and just use something as simple as markers and a piece of paper to create your postcard. Cardstock can be purchased at your local office supply store or Wal-Mart. This site also offers some helpful hints/ideas about making your own postcards: http://photojojo.com/content/diy/postcards-from-your-photos/ Please send all letters/postcards to The-N’s Programming Department: The-N Attn: Programming 1633 Broadway, 7th Floor New York, NY 10019 _____ Friday March 7th: Postsecret Postcards The theme for Friday March 7th’s mailing is Son of Nowhere Postsecret postcards. Make your own Postsecret type postcards sharing your South of Nowhere related secrets or make a postcard sharing the secret of a character from the show. And on the back of the postcard, make sure you write one reason why you love South of Nowhere and one reason why the show shouldn’t be cancelled; please refrain from negativity! We kind of got carried away with examples (it was way too much fun), but feel free to use any of these if you can’t think of any on your own. Non-Character Related: I can relate to Spencer's confusion. [ Example ] I love that "waiting for my friend" could mean more. [ Example ] Character Related: Spencer: I lied on Ashley's first time video. [ Example ] Madison: I'm jealous of people who are comfortable with who they are Ashley: I wish I could be as out and proud as my girlfriend Paula: I'm proud of my daughter, even if I can't tell her so Spencer: I'm afraid of getting my heart broken ... again Carmen: I hurt people before they can hurt me Chelsea: Ashley and I never talk about our miscarriages. She's the only one who understands. Sean: I like movies because they let me escape the realities of L.A. Glen: Even out from the shadow of my brother's successes, I fail. Ashley: I wonder everyday if I could have been a good mother Aiden: I've always known they were soulmates. Aiden: My biggest mistake was ruining your relationship Aiden: I'm afraid of being alone Ashley: I knew I'd hurt you Spencer: Even when we're at her loft, I'm still afraid my mom is gonna walk in on us. Aiden: I'm the one who was selfish Kyla: There's nothing I can do that Ashley hasn't already done Ashley: Sometimes, I worry that people wont like who I really am Aiden: I never loved her Madison: I've had a crush on my ex-best friend since third grade Glen: In the showers, I look Ashley: Her mom's even sexier when pissed Spencer: The trench coat was mom's idea Spencer: My kiss with Ashley was my first kiss and she doesn't know
Friday March 14th: Handwritten Letters The theme for Friday March 14th’s is handwritten letters to the-n. This is your chance to truly voice your opinion about why you became such a fan of the show, what it means to you, what you like about it, what frustrated you at times, why you stuck by it, why you think the-n shouldn’t cancel it, express it all. Handwriting a letter shows that you care enough to take the time to sit down and put thought into what you are saying rather than just rattling off something as you sit in front of your computer. Please try and keep your handwriting as neat as possible. And, as always, try and stay away from negativity, bashing the-n, and threats against the network. Express your frustrations using positive means i.e. you are saddened that the show is getting cancelled because now there won’t be anywhere you can turn to see teen lesbian relationships portrayed so accurately.
Friday March 21st: Magnetic Letters/Poetry Postcards The theme for Friday March 21st’s mailing is a postcard which features SON related words/phrases written out in either magnetic letters that you get to put on your refrigerator or magnetic poetry (or Scrabble pieces if that’s more accessible). This requires a little bit of extra work because you have to obtain the letters/phrases, take a picture of your message, and then print it on a postcard, but the goal of the postcards is to be eye-catching while still using as much space as possible to get a message across. On the other side of your postcard, write about which South of Nowhere characters you relate to best and why it’s important that you get to see that portrayed on TV. Samples coming soon
Friday March 28th: Top Ten Reasons You Love SON Letters The theme for March 28th’s mailing is a top ten letter for the top ten reasons you love South of Nowhere or the top ten reasons South of Nowhere has affected your life. Be as honest as you can and really show them why SON matters as more than just a TV show and form of entertainment.
Friday April 4th: SON “My Anti-Drug” Postcards The theme for Friday April 4th’s mailing is South of Nowhere related anti-drug postcards. You know the ads, the one’s that say “Basketball – My Anti-Drug.” Only we’re doing them SON style. Whether it’s Spashley, Spencer, Ashley, King High, Gray, Ego, Aiden getting shot, everyone’s got something they can say is their anti-drug from South of Nowhere. Be creative. On the other side of the postcard, write one positive choice you’ve made in your life as a result of the show and the values it puts forth. Samples coming soon
Friday April 11th: Top Ten Favorite SON Scenes/Moments Letters The theme for Friday April 11th’s mailing is a top ten letter for your top ten favorite South of Nowhere scenes/moments, why you liked them, and how they affected you. This is your chance to let the network know what the fans like about the show and what resonates with the audience the most.
Friday April 18th: One Sentence Letters The theme for Friday April 18th’s mailing is a one or two sentence letter about your love for the show/Spashley. Grab a blank piece of paper Grab a marker or two Write one or two sentences (BIG LETTERS) about your love for SON/SPASHLEY/ETC. Put your first name at the bottom, age and City, State, Country - then put "is South of Nowhere"

"triple word score-herpes" | Comment by Melissa on 2008-02-29 19:18:29 Ashley: I'm a member of Kelly Clarksons fan club. | Comment by ItEnds2Nite on 2008-02-29 19:26:29 i like the scrabble idea even though i dont have the game or any peices. but dollar stores or wal-mart sometimes carry the game cheap. | Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-29 19:53:58 I put "I will ALWAYS love these brownies" from Ashley. | Comment by GUEST on 2008-02-29 20:21:49 por fa.. And make sure you write the sentence "It's now where you've been, it's where you're going." Then send it out on Fridays. | Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-01 01:35:02 Sorry but i was just wondering...with the postsecret postcards i should put the postsecret as the front of the card? And i i live in Australia so i am thinking i should post mine about wednesday
| Comment by cbrammer on 2008-03-01 03:03:12 yeah. postsecret on the front of the card. then write your personal message on the other side, leaving an area to write the address and apply a stamp. just like a regular post card. Also, it would be great if you could leave room to apply a label on it and write the line 'not into labels' on it. | Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-01 05:52:35 *sigh* i live in south africa..will have to post my stuff today so it'll get there on time! | Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-01 06:43:08 Just mail it whenever you can. | Comment by Displaced on 2008-03-01 22:16:54 I like that secret a lot, HeyGirlHey. And I'm sure it will definitely get the attention of the network. I'm just so glad that everyone has responded so positively to the mass mail campaign. I put it all together in less than 24 hrs so it means a lot that everyone is as excited about it as I am. I think we really have the chance to catch the eye of the network with our creativity rather than sticking to letter after letter. Keep up the good work everyone! | Comment by 273jat273 on 2008-03-02 06:47:07 I like the idea of doing this!!! It's really smart! I will definitely be sending one every friday. I'm already creating all my cards! I'm so excited for this! I can not wait for the 7th. I'm not sure what mine's gonna say... probably something about how i relate to spencer. I might just use the example if I can't think of any by the 7th | Comment by 273jat273 on 2008-03-02 06:49:29 Oooh, i just thought of one...mine's gonna be 'I cried when I found out South of Nowhere is canceled.' ahahhaha | Comment by Staci on 2008-03-02 12:50:49 Does anyone know if you have to get a special stamp or something if your posting from the UK | Comment by 273jat273 on 2008-03-02 14:27:32 | Comment by 273jat273 on 2008-03-02 14:28:56 oops...i was trying to get a pic of mine up...hang on let me try again. here's the direct link so even if it doesn't work... just go here. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee140/273jat273/bannerphp-aladdin.jpg this next one is not the direct link. its another attempt to make it appear.http://s231.photobucket.com/albums/ee140/273jat273/?action=view¤t=bannerphp-aladdin.jpg | Comment by MMMroxx08 on 2008-03-02 15:43:32 These ideas are awesome I will be sure to take part in every single one of them. My favorite one is the characters secrets the examples were great. If us Spashley fans ban together I'm sure we can make the difference we all want. | Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-02 16:24:37 awww. that was a good one, 273! | Comment by GUEST on 2008-03-02 17:28:38

I started letters for the other weeks, too. For the Postsecrets: "My best friend is the Ashley to my Spencer" and "I love that holding my friend's hand can mean so much more." For the Magnet Letters: "I love...these brownies" and "I'm not into labels." For the Anti-drug, I used Spashley and the "Grr" Bear. I'll send in pictures soon! |
