The Official Save Spashley Guide to Net Teams

I. So You Wanna Be Part of the Net Team

Welcome! You’re reading this because you’ve signed up to be part of our Net Team, you’re interested in signing up for the Net Team or you’re just plain curious. Either way, we hope you find something here that answers your questions or convinces you to join once and for all.

This guide will give you a rundown of what the Net Teams do, what is expected of Net Team participants, and tips and suggestions on how to begin your experience with us. If you still have questions afterwards, please, don’t hesitate to contact Goober immediately via the Save Spashley website or at

II. What Are Net Teams?

Net Teams are the branch of the Save Spashley Action Teams that deals with spreading the word about South of Nowhere over the Internet. The goal is to have Net Team members visit as many online forums and websites as possible to increase awareness about South of Nowhere and hopefully increase viewership for the October premiere of season 3B.

We’re convinced the Net Teams can work because South of Nowhere has been such a phenomenon on the Internet. After all, would you be here if you hadn’t gone to Save Spashley? Chances are you were brought over to Save Spashley from another forum or website. Word of mouth spreads quickly this way, which is exactly what want.

III. How Do I Sign Up For the Net Team?

Simply fill out the appropriate web form on the Save Spashley website. You will have a choice of A) being assigned forums to visit B) choosing your own forums to visit or C) a combination of both being assigned forums and choosing your own.

Once you have completed your web form, you will be contacted by Goober or another Save Spashley admin with your official forum assignments. Once you know where you’re going, you’ll be off spreading Spashley goodness everywhere!

IV. I’ve Been Assigned Websites. What Now?

Now it’s time to start visiting your forums.

If you have never been to this website before, remember, you are representing all of us at Save Spashley! Be on your best behavior and check for forum rules and regulations about spamming and correctly opening new topics. We are trying to make people LIKE Spashley, not piss them off by invading their turf. Read a few topics before diving right in. Get to know the tone and feel of the place.

Once you feel comfortable and once you know this forum’s proper etiquette for starting a new topic or discussion, prepare to post.

V. Your First Post On Another Forum

Make it polite. Make it personal. Use proper spelling and grammar. Remember, first impressions are the key to your success! Say something like:

Hi everyone,

My name is _______ and I’m new here. I see you guys are big fans of [insert forum fandom or topic here]. Because you like them/it, I was wondering if anyone knew about this show South of Nowhere. I love it because...

It’s as simple as that. Just list why you love it. Be honest. Say why it’s affected your life so much. The goal is to get people interested.

Other key points that bear mentioning:

Mention the cancellation. Tell people how horrible it is that there will be no teen lesbian characters on television once this show is over and that this demographic desperately needs representation.

Point them to www.Spashley101.com so they can get a hint of what South of Nowhere is all about.

Imbed or link to some YouTube videos that people have made from either our videos (http://www.savespashley.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category§ionid=7&id=30&Itemid=81) or other accounts (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=save+spashley&search_type=).

Even more importantly, encourage people to buy past seasons via iTunes or Amazon Unbox or watch episodes on the-N website’s video player The-Click (http://www.the-n.com/theclick/)! All these three things count towards ratings and will make the network and producers take notice.

Be creative, but be honest. Even if we only get three people interested that’s three more people who might watch come October.

VI. Talking points & Additional Resources

For the uninitiated to South, the 3A character promos are great way to get introduced to the love triangle that the show is centered around. Consider posting these videos:

Aiden: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6w5Q6w8_io

These articles are also great intros to the characters, cast, and storyline:

Keep an eye on the page. Interact elsewhere if you’re interested. Make sure you answer any responses you get.

NOTE: If you get negative responses or flames, DO NOT RESPOND IN KIND! Please contact Goober ( ) immediately if you run into a problem.

Remember, behaving according to the rules of this forum will help keep you from running into obstacles.

If you are getting no response and feel it’s time to move on and abandon this forum, contact Goober. She will either assign you new ones or help you find other places that you’d feel comfortable visiting. If you’re a fan of a certain coupling, seek out forums about this couple or fandom and post there. Anything’s possible! Just keep in touch with Goober so she can keep track of where you’ve been and what you’ve been doing.

VIII. Tips

Know your audience! – if it’s a forum of mostly straight girls, talk about the diversity or how cute Aiden is. Straight guys, talk about how hot Spashley is. Seriously. Know why people come to the forum you’re on and market directly to them.

Don’t spam! – post only in the appropriate section. Don’t just fill up a board with random posts of only the words ‘Save Spashley!’ or something as lame as that. That will only turn people off.

Do not engage in confrontation! - It’s better to step away than to get burned. We are dealing with a show that is very controversial to some people. Know that you WILL get haters and you WILL get flamed. Just expect it, move on and rise above.

Really SELL the show! – You are essentially doing the marketing the N never did for the show. Just saying ‘Gee, this show is great. Check it out.’ will not cut it. Create a pitch that works for you and reuse it on multiple sites if you have to.

Don’t be intimidated by a lukewarm response! – People might hit your links curiously but not respond. Never fear! Lurkers are everywhere. One person might follow a link and stay to learn more about Spashley. That’s mission accomplished as far as we’re concerned.
